Protesters Vandalize Vehicles At Chicago Auto Show
Although plenty of car makers expect to pay for repairs on display cars that appear at auto shows, few would ever think that they would become the victims of vandals. Three college aged male spectators decided that they were fed up with the number of jobs going over seas, so they took it upon themselves to teach Toyota Motors a lessen. Targeting seven of their new model cars, Bryan Kjellman, Richard Data and Edmund Grzeszkiewicz caused extensive damage at the Chicago Auto Show. They were apprehended immediately after the attack but only after they had severely mangled the exteriors of these cars.
A spokesman for Toyota, Curt McAllister, expressed his dismay after the vandalism. The company will need to send out new cars or pay for express repairs if they are to continue to show the their vehicles. Other car makers that were targeted include Lexus. The Chicago job market continues to suffer, however, the message that these vandals sent will probably keep employers at bay. It is not clear what charges they will face, but it is likely that they will be forever banned from the Chicago Auto Show.
Security tapes showed the vandals at work as they used a variety of tools to complete their tasks. They are currently being held by Chicago police until a judge determines whether they will be able to bond out. There are a few more days left at the Chicago Auto Show and security will be much more alert as a result of these attacks.
